Since August 2025, Pasta in Corso's entire gluten-free dessert range has been handmade in our dedicated bakery kitchen in Piazza dell'Orologio and delivered fresh every morning to our 4 locations in Rome, where you can book a table, enjoy our desserts on site or purchase them to take away.

So, we have one production kitchen and 4 (soon to be 5) locations where you can enjoy or purchase our desserts.

Pasta in Corso has become a go-to destination for anyone looking for gluten-free desserts in Rome, whether to enjoy at the table or take away.

The advantage is twofold: on the one hand, you can enjoy artisan desserts at the table with a good coffee, for breakfast, or simply at the end of your meal. On the other hand, you can also buy them to take away, choosing your own tray of pastries or desserts directly from our dedicated refrigerated display, where every dessert on display is gluten-free. Zero risk of cross-contamination and the same variety you would expect from a traditional bakery.

Some of our desserts, such as tiramisu, profiteroles, Delizia al Limone and strudel, are particularly popular because it can be difficult to find truly delicious and convincing gluten-free versions, both in terms of appearance and in the texture and flavour of the pastry. At our restaurants, located in different areas of Rome, you can find around 36 completely gluten-free desserts every day. From tiramisu to Brutti ma Buoni, from tarts to rocher, as well as mousses, Delizia al Limone and many other delicious gluten-free treats.

Where to buy gluten-free desserts in Rome

Finding desserts for coeliacs in Rome that are artisan-made, not pre-packaged, and produced in-house is not always easy. At Pasta in Corso, our desserts are made every day in our central bakery kitchen in Piazza dell'Orologio and then distributed to our restaurant locations. This means that anyone looking for gluten-free desserts in Rome can find them at several locations across the city, all easy to reach and close to Rome's main attractions.

The same artisan quality, consistent and satisfying, whichever location you choose. You can find our gluten-free bakery every day, Monday to Sunday, from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm at our 4 restaurants in Rome:

  • Pantheon – Via della Maddalena 43, in central Rome.
  • Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 273, just a few minutes from the historic heart of the city and close to Trastevere.
  • Monti-Colosseum – Via dei Serpenti 9, around 400 metres from the Colosseum.
  • Cavour – Piazza Cavour 17/b, in the Prati neighbourhood.

This last location is particularly important to us. Located in the Prati area, it is the "mother" of our gluten-free bakery. This is where we first started making our gluten-free desserts. It was our very first "sweet" project, one we are particularly attached to and where it all began.

What does a gluten-free bakery really mean?

When people talk about a gluten-free bakery, many simply think of desserts made with alternative flours. In reality, it is much more complex than that. In traditional desserts, gluten contributes to the structure of cake bases, sponge cakes, shortcrust pastry, choux pastry and baked doughs. Without gluten, texture, elasticity, structure and the way the dough reacts during baking all change.

To create desserts that truly deliver, simply removing one type of flour and replacing it with another is not enough. Recipes and doughs need to be rethought, different flours carefully balanced, and factors such as hydration, fats, sugars, preparation methods and baking times all need to be studied. In addition, when products are intended for people with coeliac disease, everything must be prepared safely, in a separate kitchen, using dedicated utensils and precise procedures to prevent any risk of cross-contamination.

This is why a true gluten-free bakery in Rome does not simply offer desserts that are "suitable" for people avoiding gluten. It works to create delicious, well-balanced desserts that reproduce the texture and flavour of the traditional versions as closely as possible.

The gluten-free desserts we make in-house

This variety allows us to cater to those looking for specific, hard-to-find or particularly refined desserts, whether to enjoy at the restaurant or purchase to take away.

Over the years, we have found that some desserts are requested more often than others, both because they are much loved and because it can be difficult to find really well-made gluten-free versions. Among the most popular are tiramisù, profiteroles, Delizia al Limone and strudel.

Tiramisù

It is one of the great classics of Italian pastry. In our gluten-free version, coffee-soaked sponge cake is layered with mascarpone cream, maintaining the right balance of softness, creaminess and coffee intensity, finished with the traditional dusting of cocoa.

Profiteroles

It is one of the most complex desserts to make well, as it requires the right balance between the outer pastry, the filling and the glaze. We offer chocolate, pistachio and hazelnut versions, filled with a rich zabaglione Chantilly cream that is particularly popular with our customers.

Sorrento Delizia al Limone

This is another dessert that is difficult to find in a gluten-free version. The sponge cake needs to remain soft and well soaked without losing its structure, while the Chantilly cream needs to be fresh, well balanced and not too heavy.

Delizia al Limone gluten-free dessert

Strudel

Made with apples, pine nuts, raisins and cinnamon, it is a dessert that is rarely found in a truly well-made gluten-free version, because the structure of the pastry shell is delicate and requires careful preparation. In the video published on our social media channels, our pastry chef explains how profiteroles, Delizia al Limone and strudel are among our most requested desserts, both for their flavour and because of the technical difficulty involved in making them.

How we make our gluten-free desserts and prevent cross-contamination

Our desserts are made in a separate kitchen, using dedicated preparation processes. This is a crucial point, because for anyone looking for desserts for coeliacs in Rome, great taste matters, but safety matters even more. Production takes place in a separate environment, using dedicated utensils and precise procedures. The flours used for our bases and doughs are selected following tests and preparation trials, precisely because every dessert has different requirements: shortcrust pastry behaves differently from sponge cake, and choux pastry behaves differently from strudel. To prevent cross-contamination, we work with:

  • a separate kitchen
  • utensils used exclusively for gluten-free preparations
  • preparation procedures designed to prevent contact with ingredients containing gluten
  • highly skilled staff with years of experience in making gluten-free desserts
  • careful control of raw ingredients
  • separate management of preparation processes
  • a no-gluten philosophy, developed through a deeply responsible and thoroughly tested approach to gluten-free cooking, backed by our network of restaurants located across Rome and operating successfully for several years

This allows us to provide desserts that are safe for people with coeliac disease while maintaining quality, texture and flavour.

Gluten-free desserts to take away

Our gluten-free desserts are also available to take away. This is one of the features most appreciated by customers who do not simply want to eat at the restaurant, but would also like to take home an artisan gluten-free dessert.

When you step into one of our restaurants, you are effectively stepping into a bakery as well, with dedicated refrigerated display counters showcasing our full selection of pastries.

Our takeaway service allows you to purchase individual desserts or a selection of different products, subject to availability on the day.

The desserts are arranged on specially designed pastry trays to prevent them from being damaged during transport.

For specific requests or larger quantities, such as for birthdays or parties, it is always advisable to order in advance. This way, you can make sure your chosen desserts are ready at the most convenient location and in the quantity you need.

gluten-free desserts in Rome

Having four locations in central Rome also makes it easier to pick up a dessert and enjoy it straight away, especially for anyone looking for gluten-free desserts in central Rome, gluten-free desserts in Rome's Prati neighbourhood, or desserts to take away near some of the city's most popular areas, such as Trastevere or the Colosseum. Currently, 50% of the takeaway desserts purchased at Pasta in Corso are enjoyed while walking through the streets of central Rome.

Why so many people with coeliac disease choose Pasta in Corso

Here are the 4 main reasons.

  1. The first is safety. As we are a completely gluten-free restaurant, all our food is prepared following procedures designed to prevent cross-contamination.
  2. The second is quality. Desserts are not simply an extra on our menu, but an important part of our identity. They are made in-house and designed to be truly delicious, not simply suitable for people following a gluten-free diet.
  3. The third is variety. We do not limit our selection to the most common desserts, but also offer more unusual options that are harder to find in gluten-free versions.
  4. The fourth is convenience. Thanks to our four locations in central Rome, you can enjoy our desserts at the table or purchase them to take away.

Reviews from customers who have tried our gluten-free desserts

Many customers choose us specifically because they are looking for a gluten-free bakery in Rome where they can find artisan, freshly made desserts rather than pre-packaged products. Words and phrases that often appear in our reviews include delicious, finally, hard to find, and incredibly good even though they are gluten-free.

In particular, profiteroles, tiramisù, Delizia al Limone and strudel are among the desserts that receive the most positive comments, both for their flavour and because it can be difficult to find truly satisfying gluten-free versions of them.
